This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

Two episodes into season 2, Westworld has earned a season 3, THR is reporting.

This comes as little surprise as the show has posted strong ratings and has largely been a critical hit (even though we've had our issues with it).

“It’s been an extraordinary pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, as well as their gifted cast and crew,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys said in a statement.

“From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us.”

It remains to be seen how much of a wait there will be between seasons 2 and 3, as more than a year passed between 1 and 2.

It typically takes a while for showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to write given its complex structure, and production time is lengthy too due to the show's epic scale.

A third season could well come with new major cast additions, as was the case with Giancarlo Esposito's arrival in this past week's episode.

Westworld airs on HBO in the US and through Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
