“When you’ve been in the dark this long enough, you begin to see,“ says Dolores in the trailer for next week's Westworld episode which will reveal some huge secrets to unsuspecting human characters.
Next week will see us jump forward in time to Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson), Ashley Stubbs (Liam Hemsworth) and other members of Q.A. discovering multiple host versions of Arnold (Jeffrey Wright) - a revelation to these characters who have only known him as Bernard Lowe.
More worryingly is Dolores' voiceover. “You made us in your image,” she can be heard saying. “Created us to look like you, think like you, bleed like you - do you really think I'd let that continue?” She is clearly talking to a human character who is most likely in mortal danger.
One other exciting aspect of the trailer is the proof that the surprise dropped at the climax of the most recent episode was a legitimate one: Robert Ford is back, albeit as part of the park's code influencing events from beyond the grave. Still, this means Anthony Hopkins is back in Westworld for the time being, and he can be heard here telling Bernard/Arnold/whichever iteration of the character we're watching: 'What is about to happen will not be your fault."
Whatever happens, violence will continue with Dolores' army, including Clementine (Angela Sarafyan) and a newly-evil Teddy (James Marsden_ - glimpsed dressed in security gear - ramping up their search for their leader's father (Louis Herthum) which will likely lead them into the path of Charlotte and company.
Westworld season 2 debuts on HBO in the US and through Sky Atlantic and NOWTV in the UK.
