From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ukip leader Nigel Farage had a bit of an accident while out drinking with his new pals Steph and Dom Parker (you know, the “posh couple” from hit Channel 4 show Gogglebox).
The politician, who has a starring role in a new Channel 4 documentary about the Parkers, so enjoyed a “rip-roaring” evening at the pub with the pair, that he had to change his trousers.
During the documentary Farage is seen stumbling on a step in the Parkers’ Kent garden, dropping a glass of champagne over himself, smashing the glass and ruining his grey slacks.
He is promptly sent off to change his trousers and re-emerges wearing a pair of ripped jeans belonging to Mr Parker.
Farage revealed that he had enjoyed a “steady consumption” of two-and-a-half pints in the pub with the couple, followed by five or six glasses of wine and champagne, in an interview with the Radio Times.
He blamed the smashed glass on “physical incapacity”, due to the injuries he suffered during the plane crash he was involved in on the day of the 2010 general election.
Steph and Dom Meet Nigel Farage will be broadcast on Channel 4 on Monday 15 December at 10pm.
