The 217-strong cast was unveiled by US TV network Showtime on Monday and included an exciting mixture of returning and new names.
Surprising new additions to the third series include A-list actors Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Judd, Michael Cera, Tim Roth and Oscar nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Previously the only confirmed actor returning to the series was Kyle MacLachlan who played FBI Agent Dale Cooper. However, it appears a host of Twin Peaks veterans will be joining him including Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), and David Lynch himself who previously starred as the hard of hearing FBI chief Gordon Cole.
The much loved "log lady", Catherine Coulson, is also named following rumours she had filmed several scenes of the new series before her death last year.
A number of musicians are also listed in the cast, including American singer-song writer Sharon Van Etten and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
Principal photography is confirmed to have finished on the new series, which has been written and produced by creators and executive producers Lynch and Mark Frost.
The new season, directed entirely by Lynch, is set to premiere on Sky Atlantic in the UK in early 2017.
The new installment is set 25 years after the events of the original series, which centered around the inhabitants of the north-western town of Twin Peaks following the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer.
