From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. As far as X Factor rumours go, commendations don’t come higher than from big show boss Simon Cowell and his long-serving right hand panel judge, Louis Walsh.
Both of whom have tipped former judge, Tulisa Contostavlos, to make a dramatic return to the show following the collapse of her drugs trial.
Speaking about the singer, Walsh told the Sunday People he would welcome her back to sit alongside him during the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition.
"I have spoken to Tulisa. I totally support her. I spent so much time in her dressing room, I know who the real Tulisa is,” the tabloid quoted him as saying.
"She's rough around the edges but she's a good girl. I like her. I definitely would have her at Judges' Houses. She'll bounce back.
"She's a tough lady, and she's made it this far on her own. My advice would be to make a great record and show off that gorgeous face of hers."
Simon Cowell also voiced his support for the star.
"Tulisa's been through a rough time and has come through it," he told The Mirror. "I think she deserves a break now. I think she's got a lot of opportunities ahead of her."
Replacing Cheryl Cole on the panel, Tulisa won the X Factor back in 2011 with the band she put together, Little Mix.
However she quit the show in 2012.
