If True Detective season 2 has left you baffled and underwhelmed you're not alone, with one frustrated viewer turning to pedestrians for help in navigating its convoluted storyline.

'Lost: Intersest' the sign, which went viral on Instagram, read. 'If you have any info as to WTF is happening this season please call : 910-337-2369.'

Comedian Jason Saenz, who made the sign, told The Hollywood Reporter that the number "goes to a dead line, which is symbolic of the current state of the show".

The first season of the show was heralded for its stellar performances and impressive cinematography, centring around a serial killer in a damp Louisiana, but the second has been less impactful, interweaving the stories of officers from three cooperating police departments and having a rail project as major plot element.

"This definitely hit a chord," Saenz said of his sign. "I think a lot of people are disappointed with this season."
