Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke announced the news at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Wednesday, 13 February (via Variety).
Star John Krasinski is expected to return. He is the fifth actor to portray the character of Jack Ryan after Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
The show was initially given a two-season order, with the first outing premiering to largely positive reviews.
The first season follows Ryan from his desk job as a CIA analyst and into the field, after he discovers a string of suspicious bank transfers, which he discovers are being carried out by an Islamic terrorist named Suleiman.
The upcoming second season will follow Ryan as he confronts “the forces in power in a dangerous, declining democratic regime in South America.”
