At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Following her rise to fame, the animal rights activist has launched her own capsule collection of masks with her catchphrase, “Hey all you cool cats and kittens”, printed on them.
Released in collaboration with Chicago company Tread 365, which specialises in water polo equipment and has recently pivoted to selling face masks, the protective items of clothing feature a cat whisker design and come in black, as well as Baskin’s trademark leopard print.
“Tread 365 has teamed up with Carole Baskin from Big Cat Rescue to bring you the PURRRFECT face mask,” the product’s description reads, explaining that: “A portion of all Cool Cats face mask proceeds goes directly to supporting the big cats!”
Baskin rose to fame after appearing in Netflix’s documentary series as the arch nemesis of the titular “tiger king” Joe Exotic, who is currently serving a 22-year jail sentence for conspiring to have her killed.
Since the show was released, Baskin has attempted to appear in the music video for Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande’s “Stuck With U”, while actress Tara Reid is in talks to play the sanctuary owner in a forthcoming movie adaptation.
