From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Friends fans hoping to watch endless re-runs of their favourite sitcom will be disappointed to hear the show is not coming to Netflix UK.

Netflix announced yesterday it had struck a deal with Warner Bros to bring all 236 episodes of the hit show to its TV on-demand service.

But Netflix has confirmed that Friends will not cross the shores to the UK and has only been licensed to the US and Canada for the time being.

A spokesman for the online streaming service said there was no further news about whether the series would come to the UK in the future.

Netflix operates by region, with a number of US shows not made available in the UK and vice versa. The majority of Netflix original series are available to all subscribers, with Orange is the New Black and House of Cards available in all regions.

Friends celebrated the 20th anniversary of its first episode last month, which saw the recreation of its famous coffee shop Central Perk in New York complete with Gunter actor James Michael Tyler behind the bar.

Creator David Crane dashed hopes of any potential reunion episodes last month, telling Metro: “We finished it right and put a perfect bow on it. There’s no reason to go back and revisit them.”

At least British fans have endless repeats on Comedy Central to console themselves.
