From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Many presume, now that ITV have attained the rights to The Voice, the show will be dropped very soon because of low ratings: last weekend’s results show had less viewers than Antiques Roadshow.
While you may suspect the producers would be urging the judges to up their game, pop-singer Rita Ora is obviously ignoring the advice, making a hugely awkward blunder on Saturday night’s show.
When asked by host Caroline Flack to intoroduce the next performer, Rita started confidently, saying: Coming up next we have someone who is amazing, and it’s my girl… It’s my girl…”
After stumbling for a second on the live broadcast, Cowell is heard saying: "Who is it? You’ve forgotten, haven’t you?” She then quickly looks down to her notes hoping to find an answer, which she eventually comes to: “I’m joking, it’s Monica [Michael]”
