From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The brand new trailer for next week’s episode of The Walking Dead has been released picking up where the cliffhanger events of its third episode left off.

Narrated by King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) - who may or may not have been taken down in a hail of Saviour bullets - the outing, titled ‘Some Guy,’ throws the live of several characte into mortal danger.

One such person is Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) who has had minimal screen time since the show returned last month. Here, she’s shown not only being chased down by an unknown gunman but being caught by the Saviours - will she be the next character to meet Negan?

Elsewhere, Rick and Daryl continue on their splinter cell mission to eradicate their world of as many Saviours as they possibly can, taking to the road for what promises to be a thrilling car shoot-out all while Ezekiel less than optimistically narrates: “We will fight and we will bleed" - a far cry from the speech he gave at the beginning of the show's most recent episode.

The Walking Dead season eight airs every Sunday in the US on AMC with the UK premiere arriving the following evening on FOX. It will also be available on NOWTV
