From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Another year, another season of The Simpsons wraps up, this time the show's 27th. Yes, we’ve enjoyed 27 entire seasons of the lovable yellow family (with a few more to go) and they’re still coming up with fresh couch gags.
Over the last few weeks, Fox has brought in numerous outsider artists to spice things up a bit (including Disney animators and Ren & Stimpy). This week, they decided to pay tribute to Swedish company IKEA and their flat-pack furniture.

The segment was shown before the episode “Orange Is The New Yellow,” a play on Orange is the New Black. In it, Marge was taken back to prison, following a similar arch to the episode “Marge in Chains”.
The Simpsons’ directors aren’t the only ones to be inspired by IKEA; recently, Kanye West revealed he was “super inspired” by a trip to IKEA, adding “my mind is racing with the possibilities”.
In recent Simpsons news, one of the show’s writers described how letting Smithers come out as gay earlier this season was a hugely personal choice, inspired by his own son.
