The Muppets are returning to TV for a 'more adult' mockumentary series

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will be back on our small screens again

Enough with all the films, it’s finally time for Kermit and the gang to make their big TV comeback.

US network ABC is bringing The Muppet Show to the small screen once more for a new mockumentary series with a “more adult” slant.

It’s time to delve into the personal lives, relationships, highs and lows of everybody’s favourite felt puppets as everything gets that little bit more grown-up. Fans will be hoping that there will be at least some fun song and dance numbers.

Bill Prady, producer of The Big Bang Theory and some one-off Muppets specials in the Nineties, is the driving force behind the revival. His pilot screening last month reportedly received a standing ovation.

The Muppets first burst into our lives way back in the Fifties before getting their own show in 1976, courtesy of puppeteer Jim Henson.

Following a hiatus came The Muppets movie in 2011, with Muppets Most Wanted released last year.
