From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The full cast for Disney's first live-action Star Wars TV show has been revealed.

The Mandalorian will debut as part of the company's planned streaming service, named Disney+, with Pedro Pascal previously announced in the show's lead role.

Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito, Rocky star Carl Weathers, Supernatural's Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi of American Gods, Nick Nolte, and legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog have now been confirmed to star alongside Pascal.

The story is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, meaning it takes place between 1983's Return of the Jedi and 2015's The Force Awakens. Pascal will play a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, otherwise known as the Outer Rim, where the fall of the Empire has mattered little to its people.

The series is currently in production. Jon Favreau wrote the series and is executive producing along with Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Dave Filoni. Filoni will direct, alongside Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow.

Disney is developing another live-action Star Wars series for Diego Luna, who will return as his character Cassian Andor, with the show taking place before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The streaming service is also set to debut several Marvel-themed shows, including a return for both Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch.
