From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A new clip from the trio’s upcoming Amazon Prime show continues the look and feel like the best Top Gear episodes.
The 30-second clip sees Clarkson channeling his inner Tom Hanks, shouting ‘Wilson’ at a lost volleyball, a reference to the film Cast Away.
Hammond can be heard in the background, calling to a boat as it floats past: “Can we have our ball back, please?”
In July, the first clip from The Grand Tour was released, showcasing the chemistry between the three presenters.
Meanwhile, a former Director-General of the BBC has said the broadcaster should not have sacked Clarkson following his infamous “fracas” with a producer on the set of Top Gear.
Chris Evans - who replaced the trio as one of Top Gear’s hosts - dropped out of the BBC show earlier this year, something May was reportedly ‘chuffed’ about - something later denied by Clarkson.
James Martin, of Saturday Morning Kitchen fame, is reportedly in talks to take over as host.
