From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The first pictures of Colin Morgan in The Fall have been released and he looks like he means business.

The North Irish actor, best known for fantasy TV series Merlin, joins the psychological thriller next week as DS Tom Anderson.

Fans can see images of Morgan in the next three episodes of The Fall, which also stars Jamie Dornan as serial killer Paul Spector and Gillian Anderson as DSI Stella Gibson.

Little is known about Morgan’s new role, but speculative buzz suggests he may have a past with Paul and be set for romance with Stella.

Morgan himself admitted that his character has some “very close encounters” with Stella but likes to think he is “more special than a one-night stand”.

“[Stella] asks [Tom] to join the team because she sees a value in him,” Anderson told Digital Spy. “Based on his confidence and also his age, he could be of value with how they move forward in the investigation.”

Morgan has also signed on for Channel 4’s upcoming sci-fi series Humans, due out in 2015, while Dornan will be seen as playboy billionaire Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey next February.
