From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first full trailer for Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been released.

The series will arrive on 19 March 2021 and stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the titular Falcon, while Sebastian Stan is The Winter Soldier, real name Bucky Barnes.

It follows on from 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, in which Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) gave Captain America’s shield to Sam.

As Sam struggles with being Steve’s chosen inheritor, the government tries to block his attempts to become the new Captain America.

“The legacy of that shield is… complicated,” Sam tells Bucky in the new trailer.

Showrunner Malcolm Spellman has previously compared the show to a buddy-cop adventure like Lethal Weapon, with the playful friendship between Sam and Bucky clear in the trailer.

Daniel Brühl can be seen as villain Zemo, while another masked foe also appears to be a key player.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which consists of six episodes, was originally scheduled for release in August 2020 and was intended to be the first original Marvel series on Disney+.

However, after production was delayed due to the pandemic, it will now arrive afterWandaVision, which will be released in January 2021.
