From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Set to Johnny Cash’s cover of Hurt (more on the making of that amazing song here), the teaser sees Saga sitting in her car near the titular bridge, tensely gripping the steering wheel as rain falls.
The series will see her investigate the murder of Helle Anker on a her own, a high-profile speaker on gender issues.
Though Martin’s arrest puts him out of the frame anyway, rumours circulated recently that actor Kim Bodnia left the show because he disagreed with the direction the show creators were taking his character.
He told Digital Spy his departure was “very natural” however and purely down to the show’s narrative.
According to the site, Anker’s ‘brutal killing is only the first in a series of gruesome crimes, as the episodes will revolve around the concept and structures of family.’
The Bridge season 3 is expected to arrive on BBC Four in November.
