The Big Bang Theory cast have begun to bid an emotional farewell to the sitcom.

Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and their cast mates discussed the nearing end of the show with Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday.

“We’ve been getting super emotional,” said Cuoco, who has played Penny since the series first aired in 2007.

The Big Bang Theory is currently in its 12th and last season, and some of the show’s stars said they only have a few episodes left to tape.

Cuoco recounted rehearsing a scene with Galecki recently and bursting out crying “out of nowhere” – an experience that proved cathartic for the rest of the team.

“The crew, all the camera guys and everyone came out and they’re like, ‘We’re so glad you cried because we’ve been waiting to cry,’” she added.

“Then they all gave us this huge group hug and we all just cried for 10 minutes.”

Parsons revealed he has yet to cry over the end of the show and has “a very deep fear” that his emotions are going to surface unexpectedly.
