Take me out: Man puts cheese on everything

ITV have cancelled Take Me Out after a decline in viewership ratings.

The dating programme, which was hosted by former Phoenix Nights star Paddy McGuinness, aired its 11th series last year.

A spokesperson for ITV told The Sun: “We’ve decided to say goodbye to Take Me Out.”

Take Me Out premiered a decade ago, in January 2010. The format involved a single man descending down the “Love Lift” to try and convince a line-up of 30 single women to go on a date with them.

If, after five rounds of showboating and interrogation, there is still the possibility of romance in the air between the man and any one of the 30 women, the lucky couple jets off to the “Isle of Fernando’s” for a date.

The series was known for McGuinness’ catchphrases, which included “no likey, no lighty” (a reference to the lights used to indicate attraction), and “let the [blank] see the [blank]”.

McGuinness is currently the host of BBC’s Top Gear, alongside Andrew Flintoff and Chris Harris.
