Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left in shock by a bizarre performance dedicated to The Simpsons.

The BBC reality show continued on Saturday (7 November) with The Wanted singer Max George and his professional partner Dianne Buswell dressing up as Homer and Marge Simpson.

They then danced to the hit animation series’s popular theme tune in what has since been branded the “strangest” performance in the show’s 18-year history.

Viewers were left feeling somewhat alarmed by the visual, and expressed their horror on social media.

One person called it “the most horrifying thing I've ever seen”.

Another added: "This Simpsons routine is the most surreal thing I’ve seen this year and that’s saying something."

"I think it’s safe to say that neither the Star Wars theme or The Simpsons theme should ever be danced to ever again," someone else waded in.

Another added: "I’ve watched the Simpsons Strictly dance five times just to feel something... and what I feel is embarrassment."

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.25pm on BBC One.
