The professional dancer made headlines for falling twice the previous week – prompting her to deny claims she was drunk – but it seemed this moment was more to do with her emotion at how far her celebrity partner has come.
After dancing the quickstep with partner Mike Bushell to Dexy’s Midnight Runners track “Come On Eileen”, she fell to the floor in tears.
Asked if the dance felt good by host Tess Daly, Bushell said: “Yes because of the struggles, the flu, the cold this week. Thursday afternoon I never thought we’d get around like that.
“It was such fun. Great song, I grew up to it,” he added.
The dance proved their best yet, and scored seven, nine, eight, and eight from the judges for a total score of 32.
Jones was in tears throughout the judges critiques, and continued to look emotional as she and Bushell spoke with co-host Claudia Winkleman, who remarked: “I’ve never seen you like this before.”
“I’m so proud of him,’ Katya said. “I want to kiss him so much. I love him so much. He worked so hard.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight (Sunday 13 October) on BBC One.
