Another day, another Strictly Come Dancing contestant announcement. Today's turn? Noughties singing sensation Anastacia.
The "I'm Outta Love" singer (don't pretend you don't remember it) will join the likes of Pop Idol winner Will Young, former shadow chancellor Ed Balls and fashion model Daisy Lowe to take part in the dancing contest when it returns to the BBC next month.
Anastacia is a Chicago-born singer-songwriter whose career peak arrived in the early 2000s with the release of albums Freak of Nature (2001) and Anastacia (2004). Her most recognised hits include the aforementioned belter "I'm Outta Love," "One Day In Your Life" and "Left Outside Alone."
Speaking about her appearance, she told BBC Radio 2 host Chris Evans: “I'm a total '10' on the level of excitement and definitely a '10' scared. Seriously, though, I can't wait to get started. Taking part in Strictly is a dream. I've got a lot of training to do before I'm twinkle toes so I'm eager to get my partner and get going."
Rounding out this year's current line-up is TV personality Laura Whitmore, sports presenter Ore Oduba, DJ Melvin Odoom, former Eternal singer Louise Redknapp, Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac and newsreader Naga Munchetty.
Also rumoured to be participating are Birds of a Feather actor Lesley Joseph and astronaut Tim Peake.
Last month, head Strictly judge Len Goodman announced that the next series will be his “swan-song”, with professional dancer Anton Du Beke the favourite to replace him.
The 14th series of Strictly Come Dancing returns to the BBC in September 2016.
