Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Netflix sensation Stranger Things has been stunning audiences since its debut earlier this month.
Following the disappearance of young boy Will Byers, the series - created by The Duffer Brothers - merges sci-fi, high school romance and creature horror to make it the full-blown nostalgia-fest 70s and 80s kids were waiting for (more on why you should definitely make it your next binge here).
With a mere eight episodes to watch, viewers have been tearing through the first season despite its commissioned follow-up being a year away. One such person has gone a step further - namely Vimeo user Ulysse Thevonon who has gone back through the series and made a supercut detailing Stranger Things' many references.
As expected, there are direct homages to films including E.T., The Goonies and Poltergeist AKA lots of torchlight in the woods, kids on bicycles and violent beings from different dimensions.
Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Matthew Modine and a string of fantastic child actors including Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown.
The video's been made to the backdrop of the show's opening theme - composed by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein - so you'll be forced to resist the urge to stop what you're doing to watch it all over again - you have been warned
The show's creators have teased that season two will be more of a 'sequel.'
