The next season if Stranger Things is just around the corner and various cast members have teased what to expect from the latest chapter of the Netflix smash.
In an interview with Pilot (Empire Magazine‘s sister TV magazine), Finn Wolfhard discussed how season three will mesh together elements of the last two seasons.
“The first season was more about the adventure aspect and kind of fun, the second season was more about the horror aspect,” he said. “Season three is everything, like the fun of season one and the horror of season two.”
The actor, who plays Mike Wheeler on the show, also discussed how far the Stranger Things team have come since the first season aired in July 2016. “The Duffers have got better at it, at writing it," he said. "And we’ve become better actors.”
It is not yet completely clear how the evil surrounding the characters (and their home town Hawkins, Indiana) will present itself, but Billy Hargrove actor Dacre Montgomery told Pilot that his character is “pure evil this season”. Montgomery was instructed by series bosses the Duffer brothers to research Jack Nicholson‘s acting in The Shining to get a sense of where his character is going.
The showrunners also recently divulged to Entertainment Weekly the range of films that inspired the latest season, including Romancing The Stone, The Thing and Indiana Jones.
Stranger Things 3 will be available on Netflix from 4 July and is set in the summertime – in contrast to the preceding two seasons, which have both been set and released around Halloween.
