Fans are delighted to hear the second season of The Mandalorian will begin streaming on Friday, 30 October.

The release date was announced on Wednesday afternoon (2 September) via the official Star Wars Twitter account, in a post that has since received over 35,000 likes.

A trailer for the highly anticipated second season is yet to be released.

Confirmation that “new episodes” will be available to stream on 30 October suggests that the show will again launch with multiple chapters before moving to a weekly release pattern, as was the case with its first season.

The Disney+ original series is set in the Star Wars universe and follows the story of lone bounty hunter Din Djarin.

Fans of the hit show had expected to get their first look at the second season last weekend at the Star Wars Celebration event in Anaheim, California, however the gathering was cancelled due to the pandemic.

While many productions were halted due to coronavirus-related filming restrictions, The Mandalorian was able to wrap shooting before lockdown measures were enforced.

The Mandalorian has been feted with 15 nominations in the forthcoming Emmy awards, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series where it’s up against Ozark, Better Call Saul, Stranger Things and Succession, among others.
