The network has ordered 13 episodes of Kamp Koral, a CG-animated series set during SpongeBob's childhood, according to Deadline.
Kamp Koral stars a 10-year-old SpongeBob at sleepaway camp, the website reported on Tuesday.
Production is scheduled to start in June in Burbank, California.
This marks the first time a proposed SpongeBob spin-off has received a green light.
According to Deadline, Kamp Koral follows a young SpongeBob as he conducts various activities with his friends at sleepaway camp, including swimming and jellyfish hunting.
The animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, created by Stephen Hillenburg, premiered in the US on 17 July, 1999.
It has since acquired a massive fan following and spawned two films (The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie in 2004 and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water in 2015).
A third movie, The SpongeBob Movie: It's a Wonderful Sponge, will be released in 2020.
