Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It renewed for second season on Netflix
The show is an adaptation of Lee's 1986 film of the same name

She's Gotta Have It is getting a second season.
Netflix has made the decision to renew the Spike Lee show, an adaptation of his 1986 film, which follows Nola Darling (DeWanda Wise), a Brooklyn artist in search of full self-definition and fulfilment, as she balances her job, her friends, and her three lovers - played by Anthony Ramos, Lyriq Bent, and Cleo Anthony.
Lee created and directed all 10 episodes of the first season, alongside producing with his wife Tonya Lewis Lee; the pair announced the news on Instagram, wishing fans a Happy New Year.
Wise also took to Instagram to share the good news, sharing a video of herself and the crew on set and writing "Back ta werq... can't wait to return to BK."
The show, which marks Lee's first foray into series television, received largely positive reviews from critics. Melanie McFarland wrote on Salon that the show speaks "to the truth of what it is to be a woman, and a woman of color, that feels truer now than it did when Tracy Camilla Johns originated the role in 1986."
