A special, remote episode will air on 11 April at 11.30pm ET/PT, Deadline reports.
SNL was initially supposed to pick up on 28 March after a scheduled hiatus, but announced on 16 March it was halting production until further notice as the pandemic made it impossible to create new episodes as planned.
Weekend Update, the segment hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, will be featured in the 11 April episode.
More original content will come from other cast members.
A teaser shared by SNL on social media on Thursday features the show’s stars – including Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Bowen Yang, Chris Redd, Pete Davidson, and Kate McKinnon – reuniting in a video call.
It’s unclear if the remote episode will take that form too.
It remains to be seen whether SNL resumes a weekly schedule after the 11 April broadcast.
According to Deadline, plans are still being finalised regarding the slate of new content to air as well as the length of the episode.
