The troubadour will play the character Brendan in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, a teaser trailer for which has been released.
The clip sees Sheeran’s ginger-haired character playing piano alongside Lisa in the Simpsons’ garage. However, the saxophonist doesn’t seem impressed by his musical talents, Sheeran’s character asking: “You didn’t applaud?”
Meanwhile, Homer’s knocking on the wall from the living room, saying: “Oh no, they’re playing in time to the beat of my banging!”
According to an already released synopsis, the episode sees Sheeran’s character competition with Nelson Muntz to win over Lisa’s heart. The show’s producers previously explained how the singer recorded his part over the phone from the UK.
Sheeran is a known Simpsons fan, having a tattoo of the three-eyed fish Blinky on his body. Meanwhile, Sheeran recently released a remix of his song ‘Perfect’ featuring Beyoncé and was revealed to be the most-streamed artist on Spotify of 2017.
