According to The Sun, a man was seen "being raced to hospital on a stretcher in a neck brace between 7.30am and 8.30am" after an incident at the X Factor boss's home. Cowell was later photographed returning home and flashing a thumbs up.
Cowell is believed to have fainted and fallen down the stairs. He is reportedly in hospital undergoing tests but is said to be "in a stable condition", The Sun reports.
A source told the publication: "It's been a scary morning. It was very early and Simon was going down his stairs to get some hot milk because he couldn't sleep."
Cowell has been appearing as a judge on the current series of The X Factor, where he is in charge of the Groups category.
He has four out of 12 total acts who will perform live in front of an audience this weekend: Rak-Su, The Cutkelvins, Sean & Conor Price, and wildcard act Jack & Joel.
The first live show is supposed to take place on Saturday 28 October, with the four wildcards competing for a spot.
