Mark Ruffalo will reprise the role of Bruce Banner – aka the Hulk – in the upcoming Disney+ series She-Hulk, according to reports.
The actor, who has portrayed the character in seven previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed at the 2020 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo that he was in talks to appear in the programme.
She-Hulk will focus on the adventures of Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner who receives Hulk-like superpowers through Gamma radiation.
Comic book gossip website The Illuminerdi, who have correctly reported on rumours about the Marvel franchise before, reported that Ruffalo has now signed the deal and will definitely appear in the forthcoming series.
Marvel fans took to Twitter to express their happiness with the news.
“What is it with Marvel, they know how to start the hype”, wrote one commenter.
“Okay this is my most anticipated Disney+ series now”, wrote another.
Ruffalo is one of the most beloved actors to have taken on the big, green character, following in the footsteps of actors including Edward Norton and Lou Ferrigno.
Licencing disputes with Universal Pictures have meant Marvel is unable to release a standalone Hulk movie during Ruffalo’s tenure, but the character has had substantial storylines in films including The Avengers and Thor: Ragnarok.
