Netflix has revealed the release date for the keenly awaited second season of Sex Education.

The comedy drama, which stars Asa Butterfield as socially awkward high school student Otis, and Gillian Anderson as his sex therapist mother Jean, was released to critical acclaim in January of this year.

Netflix has now announced the show will return for eight new episodes on 17 January, 2020.

Season two sees Otis learn to master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to progress with his girlfriend Ola (Patricia Allison), while also dealing with his strained relationship with fellow student, Maeve (Emma Mackey).

Meanwhile, new episodes will see Moordale Secondary his with an outbreak of chlamydia, highlighting the need for better sex education at the school.

Sex Education season two will be available to stream on Netflix from 17 January, 2020.
