Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The long-running entertainment programme is back on ITV this weekend with all the celebrity guests, silly challenges and jaw-dropping prizes we’ve come to expect, 17 series in.
Here’s everything we know about the new series...
When does Saturday Night Takeaway return?
Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway will be back on TV this Saturday (20 February) at 7pm.
Filming on the series began earlier in February, with strict social distancing measures in place.
Who will be presenting?
It wouldn’t be Saturday Night Takeaway without Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, would it? The presenters will be reunited on our screens for the first time since hosting I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! last autumn.
Fleur East and Stephen Mulhern will be joining them to co-host a number of additional segments throughout the series.
Who are the guests?
The first episode back is a star-studded one, with Ant and Dec’s former SM:TV co-host Cat Deeley and Gary Barlow joining them on the show.
Years & Years singer turned It’s A Sin star Olly Alexander will also appear in the series opener.
Jamie and Harry Redknapp will be taking part in the hidden camera challenge, which Davina McCall and Mo Farah will also do later in the series.
There’s also going to be a new mini-series called Double Trouble, featuring celebrities including Bear Grylls, Prue Leith, Rob Brydon, Alison Hammond and Jermaine Jenas.
Which segments are returning?
For regular viewers of the show, Saturday Night Takeaway is best known for its wacky challenges and other recurring segments.
