From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In a statement to EW, the star of the Netflix show revealed the news saying, "I could not be more thrilled to be writing about the recipes I love and think are essential to any novice home cook, professional, and somewhere in between."
The show’s food and wine expert was chastised for his simplistic recipes like guacamole, macaroni and cheese and hot dogs.
He subtly addressed his guacamole recipe criticism and announced his book deal in one tweet writing, "Avocado-stuffed pierogies for everyone!!"
Porowski’s cookbook faces the flack he caught for his cooking recommendations head-on with a 100-recipe cookbook via Rux Martin of publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
While some recipes will be similar to the simple recipes from the first season of Queer Eye, he will include more complex recipes as well.
The chef and TV star revealed he instantly connected to Martin: “We immediately bonded on the importance of hors-d’oeuvres and our mutual love for Vermont, and I can’t wait to publish this book and share my personal recipes with the world.”
Porowski’s cookbook is due spring 2019.
In the meantime, the second season of Queer Eye is set to premiere later this year.
