From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The mystery thriller starring Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale came to an end last year, but I Marlene King is already talking about the show's future.
“I love those characters so much," King gushed to US Weekly on Thursday.
"A couple of those characters are going to be in the Pretty Little Liars spin-off. I had so much fun writing for those characters again and it just made me realise how much I love writing for that world."
She added: “I think the girls all really want to grow up and do their own things, like follow their own individual projects for a while. And maybe we’ll eventually come back."
King is extremely passionate about how much she enjoyed working on Pretty Little Liars, and is already working on the series' first spin-off, The Perfectionists, starring Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish.
She created a supernatural spin-off called Ravenswood while Pretty Little Liars was still being aired, but it was cancelled shortly after it began.
The Perfectionists doesn't have a premiere date yet, but the fact that King is already discussing the original Rosewood crew's return will excite fans of the show.
Pretty Little Liars ran for seven seasons on Freeform.
