From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The premise is pretty bonkers: a small-town preacher named Jesse Custer merges with an otherworldly being and sets out to find God, joined by a hard-drinking Irish vampire and his ex-girlfriend.
He has supernatural powers that allow him to ‘command the obedience of those who hear and comprehend his words’ in the comic books, but these aren’t really touched upon in the trailer.
AMC will be hoping for a Walking Dead-sized success with the show, which has been adapted by Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg.
"It is our favorite comic of all time,” Rogen wrote in a statement, “and we're going to do everything we can to do it right.”
Joe Gilgun and Ruth Negga co-star in the 10-episode first season, which doesn’t yet have a release date but is expected in 2016.
