The first look at Lionsgate's reboot was unveiled at New York Comic-Con earlier today (8 October). It seems it'll be a plain old origin story following five high-school students who become the mighty morphin heroes you'll remember from yesteryear; they're being played by RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl), popstar Becky G as well as relative newcomers Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott and Ludi Lin.
There's no glimpse at many of the film's wider cast beyond the main collective, although Elizabeth Banks is shown briefly as the villainess of the piece, Rita Repulsa. If you were hoping for a look at Bryan Cranston in character as the Power Rangers' mentor Zordon, it seems you'll have to wait a little longer. Same goes for robot Alpha 5 that'll be voiced by Bill Hader.
Another teaser to be unveiled at New York Comic-Con was War for the Planet of the Apes which Caesar actor Andy Serkis described as "the most psychologically intense" outing yet.
Power Rangers will be released 25 March 2017
