Despite Nintendo shares falling in value earlier today thanks to the company revealing the mobile game might not actually be making *that* much money, 10 million people in Japan downloaded the game the day it became available.
However, the creators behind the show South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have claimed they foresaw the creation of Pokémon Go back in 1999.
Back in the third season (the show is about to enter season 20), the duo created the Pokémon parody Chinpokomon, a collection of collectable toys that the children of South Park could collect.
"Everyone's talking about Pokémon Go," Parker told Vulture. "And it's like, we did Pokémon in literally 1999 and the whole idea was that it was a bummer because kids were getting into Pokémon and there was a computer chip in there that was tracking them and sending all the information to Japan. We made fun of Pokémon Go in 1999!"
At Comic-Con, a new trailer for South Park debuted; titled ‘We’ve been there’, it was a quick flashback on some of the more controversial jokes they’ve done throughout the series.
Meanwhile, Pokémon Go made headlines once again after a concert goer was spotted playing the game at the front of a Beyoncé concert.
