From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

One of Peaky Blinders‘ lead cast members has sent fans into a frenzy following an Instagram post hinting at huge cameo.

With production on the sixth series delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, fans are waiting patiently for new episodes of the hit BBC drama.

However, they are now expecting someone extremely famous to cameo thanks to a cryptic post from Paul Anderson.

The actor, who plays Arthur Shelby in the series, posted photos of his character onto his account, captioning it: ”Ciao bella, looks like he is somewhere in Small Heath getting ready for S6.”

It was the tagged names that caused intrigue, though – he included the show’s official account, actor Bella Thorne and director Guy Ritchie.

But it was the inclusion of footballer David Beckham that caused excitement.

Fans are now expecting Beckham to cameo in the new series, which will also see Stephen Graham join the cast.

He’s clearly a fan of the show; last year, he posted some photos he had taken on the set the fifth series.

Beckham most recently cameoed in the final season of US sitcom Modern Family, and also had an appearance in Ritchie’s King Arthur film.

Whether he has a part to play in future episodes remains to be seen, but those replying to Anderson’s post made no secret of the fact they would love to see him show up.

“Please tell me Beckham will have a part in the show!” one person wrote, with another adding: “I’m wishing David Beckham for s6.”

The new series is expected to resume production in the next few months.

Earlier this month, series creator Steven Knight revealed which character he regrets killing off the most.
