Oprah Winfrey is set to interview Beto O'Rourke in New York amid speculation over a possible presidential run.

Winfrey will speak with O'Rourke, Bradley Cooper, Michael B Jordan, Melinda Gates and Time's Up president Lisa Borders one-on-one during a live event in Times Square.

The interviews scheduled to take place on 5 February. Tickets will go on sale on 14 January at 10am EST.

The event will air on the Oprah Winfrey Network and will be available as a podcast later on.

O'Rourke was narrowly defeated by Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz in the 2018 midterm elections, after raising $80m for his campaign.

He has since built a solid Democratic support base, and rumours that he may launch a presidential bid in 2020 have swirled.

Aides and friends have said O'Rourke is considering a potential run, CNN wrote, but two sources told the network he won't make a decision until February at the earliest.

"In one-on-one conversations, Winfrey will discuss how each of the guests created an impact and shifted the conversation in their respective fields of entertainment, politics and culture in the last year," reads an online description of Winfrey's event.

Cooper made his directorial debut in 2018 with A Star is Born starring himself and Lady Gaga, which earned him three Golden Globes nominations in the Best Motion Picture – Drama, Best Director – Motion Picture and Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama categories.
