Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

One Born Every Minute returns tonight after just a few months since the last series finished.

Series six continues in the same hospital following expectant parents in Bristol’s Southmead maternity unit, the busiest in the West Country.

Tonight’s first episode sees the unlikely occurrence of fourth generation twins making an appearance on the delivery suite.

Mother Mel, 35, is an identical twin, as was her father and grandmother, and never thought she would fall pregnant with twins.

But that’s exactly what happened, and she is now faced with choosing whether her soul-mate twin sister or father of her baby should accompany her into theatre.

The new series also features same-sex couple Marion and Rachel, who “shopped online” to find the father of their baby-to-be.

Using Marion’s eggs they based their decision on which donor had the most similar attributed to Rachel, who ended up getting pregnant with twins.

The midwives continue to play a key role in the new series, with blonde-haired Sacha particularly excited about Emma Bunton’s celebrity arrival on the delivery suite.

Baby Spice makes an appearance to support the maternity unit’s charity, but all Sacha can think about is meeting her idol and bringing in her old Spice Girl memorabilia to get signed.

One Born Every Minute starts Wednesday 11 June at 9pm on Channel 4
