Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

One Born Every Minute is returning to Channel 4 for a fifth series this month on Monday 24 February.

The series will follow expectant mothers and fathers in the West County’s busiest maternity unit, introducing the straight-talking midwifery team in Bristol’s Southmead Hospital.

The heart-warming documentary has previously been filmed in Leeds Infirmary and Southampton Hospital’s maternity wards.

Now in its fifth series, the show has seen over 100 babies delivered on camera since, with the 150th baby delivered this year.

The programme, which follows expectant parents before, during and after the birth of their baby, has been a surprise hit, pulling in a regular average audience of 3 million viewers.

The Bafta-winning documentary is back for 20 episodes this year, an increase from its usual run of 14 episodes.

Series five sees a mother who goes into labour so quickly her partner misses the birth, 4th generation identical twins and a woman who thought she was infertile until she conceives a ‘miracle’ baby.
