New to Netflix UK & Ireland in September

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

September could well be the most impressive month Netflix has had all year.

The streaming service has released its forthcoming schedule and it seems it's going to be a busy 30 days for subscribers with a bursting roster of original TV shows and licensed films, including recent releases and beloved classics.

Spearheading the big TV returns is adult animation BoJack Horseman which returns for a fifth season. Elsewhere, new episodes of Marvel's Iron Fist and documentary series American Vandal - which will follow-up its first season with a brand new mystery - will all be added throughout the month.

Cult sitcom The Good Place will also return, tying up its huge season two finale cliffhanger with weekly new episodes set to premiere in the UK the day after its US debut, just like Better Call Saul which will continue through to November.

The big new release of the month is Maniac, a brand new Limited Series from the mind of novelist Patrick Somerville. His mind-bending 10-episode show has united director Cary Joji Fukanaga as well as stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. Find out more about Maniac below.

Film-wise, there'll be a new crop to add to your list. These include Martin Scorsese's Gangs of New York (2002), Clint Eastwood's Best Picture winner Million Dollar Baby (2004), Lonely Island comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016), Marvel blockbuster Doctor Strange (also 2016) and acclaimed 2017 drama Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, which stars Annette Bening and Jamie Bell.
