Netflix in March: Every new TV show and film coming this month from Annihilation to Jessica Jones season 2

Returning TV shows and one of the year's most anticipated films

It's a new month for Netflix who, following the release of three poorly-received science-fiction titles - including surprise sequel The Cloverfield Paradox - endured something of a strange February.

Well, March looks like a step in the right direction with an array of returning TV shows, critically-acclaimed films and the release of one of the year's most eagerly anticipated films.

The release of Annihilation on Netflix in the UK may have sparked frustration by those hoping to see the film on a big screen but it remains a coup for the streaming service.

The first film from Alex Garland since Ex Machina (2015), Annihilation is an adaptation of the first book in Jeff Vandermeer's Southern Reach trilogy stars Natalie Portman as a biologist who volunteers for a secret mission into alien territory of which previous attempts to explore met with disastrous results.

The film's all-female cast includes Tessa Thompson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Gina Rodriguez (with Oscar Isaac cameo) and has been garnering extremely positive reviews following its release in the US.

TV wise, the biggest release this month is no doubt Jessica Jones which sees Krysten Ritter reprise her role as the Marvel superhero for a second season consisting of 13 episodes while Love - the Judd Apatow-produced romantic comedy - will return for its third and final run.

The tail-end of the month sees new episodes of underrated horror-comedy show Santa Clarita Diet starring Drew Barrymore as a flesh-eating mother, while Neil Patrick Harris will once again spearhead A Series of Unfortunate Events which returns for a 10-episode second season with added cast members Lucy Punch and Tony Hale.

For those wanting to broaden their film horizons, Netflix will add the likes of Damien Chazelle's Whiplash, standout Jake Gyllenhaal drama Nightcrawler and critically-acclaimed British drama God's Own Country as well as Marvel films Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: Civil War.
