From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Titled Dogs, the series will track six individual stories across six episodes that will “celebrate the deep emotional bonds between people and their beloved four-legged friends” from countries including Syria, Japan, Italy and the United States.
Co-producer Glenn Zipper said: “Dogs don’t just make us feel loved, dogs make us feel safe. In the world we live in today, no matter how divided we are, we should take care to realise how much dogs mean to all of us, and how our bond with them can help bring us together.”
Episode one follows therapy dog, Rory who helps an 11-year-old girl who suffers from traumatic seizures.
Other episodes will follow an Italian fisherman who relies on his dog to be his business partner, two of the world's most renowned dog groomers in Japan, and a refugee who risked everything to bring his dog Zeus from Syria to Lebanon.
The series is co-produced by Amy Berg who directed West of Memphis, the true-crime documentary charting the wrongful convictions of the West Memphis Three who were imprisoned for the murders of three eight-year-old children in 1993.
Dogs is released on Netflix on 16 November.
