Former Glee star Naya Rivera has been arrested for allegedly assaulting her husband.

Ryan Dorsey told police the actress — best known for playing Santana on the musical TV show — struck him while they were out with their son on Saturday.

The 30-year-old was charged with “misdemeanour domestic battery” early Sunday morning in Kanawha County Magistrates Court, West Virginia.

Video of the actress walking into court wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and handcuffs while talking to a judge has since emerged online.

In the footage – taken by a local reporter for TV station WSAZ – Rivera is asked whether she knows the charges, to which she answered: “Yes your honour”. She was later released on a personal recognisance bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Dorsey claims Rivera hit him on the head and bottom lip while they were walking their son down a street. The husband says there is video footage of the incident.

Rivera and Dorsey married in 2014 and have a two-year-old son. They reportedly filed for divorce earlier this year but decided to stay together.
