Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has surprised film fans by sharing her brutally honest review of Saint Maud.

The reality TV star ventured to the cinema on Friday night (16 October) to see the acclaimed new psychological horror film.

However, her expectations were not met – she hated the film and told her Instagram followers so.

“Traumatised at how terrible that film was,” she wrote. “It’s called Saint Maud. Not one part made sense.”

She added that she was “highly upset”.

Saint Maud, which was released last week, has received widespread praise, with The Independent’s critic Clarisse Loughrey calling it “an exquisite slice of religious horror” in her five-star review.

Directed by Rose Glass, the film stars Morfydd Clark as a caregiver who wants to save the soul of a terminally ill patient (Jennifer Ehle).

While one person said that Hague’s opinion was “simply wrong”, fans of both Love Island and cinema – including writer Christina Newland – were just overjoyed to see the two worlds colliding.

Earlier this year, Britney Spears revealed herself to be a huge fan of Dolittle, one of the year’s worst reviewed films.

The singer sat down to watch the flop, and branded it “a must see” on Instagram, which prompted her fans to lovingly hail her “the queen of cinema”.

Saint Maud is in cinemas now.
