From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The cast of Modern Family have reunited for the last time.
Cast, including Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen and Ed O’Neill, gathered to begin filming on the 11th and final season of their hit ABC comedy.
They recreated a group photo from their very first table read back in 2009.
Co-creator Steven Levitan shared the picture alongside the original, writing: “Ten years ago we took the first cast photo outside our first #modernfamily table read. Today, the ending begins.”
Vergara can be seen cuddling her on-screen son Rico Rodriguez who was 10 at the time the show began. He turned 21 on Wednesday.
While Modern Family’s audience has declined in recent seasons, it still consistently ranks among ABC’s top five scripted series.
Its depiction of blended families and same-sex partners was considered as a fresh approach to the domestic comedy format, represented with characters portrayed by Vergara‘s Gloria, O’Neill’s Jay and Ty Burrell’s Phil Dunphy, and also the trials and tribulations of parenthood.
Modern Family will return for its final season in 2020.
