From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Michael Jackson’s 16-year-old son will play Cooper, a trauma victim who bonds with character Silver over “the realisation- at a very young age- of how precious life is”, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes just one week after Entertainment Tonight hired Prince Michael as an on-air correspondent.
The teenager made his on-screen debut last week alongside co-host Brooke Anderson and was clear he has plans for a career in showbiz. “I’m looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor,” he told the programme.
Janet Jackson, Prince Michael’s aunt, also made headlines this week after it was revealed she secretly married Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana last year.
In a joint statement to Entertainment Tonight Jackson and Al Mana said their wedding was a “quiet, private and beautiful ceremony” and asked for their privacy to be respected.
Perhaps Prince Michael will be sent to interview her.
